March 30, 2012:   With a trip to Prescott
on the calendar today, it seemed like a great opportunity to try another 'plein- air outing' ...venturing beyond my backyard. This time, I traveled lighter – literally and figuratively – taking only watercolors. The area along Cherry Road / SR 169 always captivates me with its 'big Arizona sky'. When there are a few clouds, like today, the wide open spaces become a patchwork of moving shadows in blues, purples and greys. Trying for some looser strokes, complete with spills, splatters and a mix of limestone/sandstone dust tossed in by the wind: "East of Dewey". |
