March 22, 2012: For several nights,
I've woken at 3:00 am--thinking of my Aunt Irla. Living 2500 miles away in an assisted- loving home, she has severe Alzheimer's. In the stillness of those morning hours, I send peace-filled blessings to her, while happy memories float by. She taught me how to make a proper cup of tea, taking care to 'hot the pot'. My first tea cozy was hand-knit by her. Most days, I take my tea in a mug. Today, in her honour, I dug out a china tea cup she'd given me and, with great ceremony, went through the entire ritual. You may not remember me, Aunt Irla; however, "I Remember You". |
