Driving through the National Forest one rainy
day, I came upon two mama cows with their
calves and got out of the car to observe them.

While the others were busy eating freshly
      monsoon-moist grasses, this mocha-colored
calf was full of amusement and curiosity for
      this 2-legged creature standing several
      yards away.
Her invitation to play was palpable; however,
every time she ventured toward me, her
      mother advised differently.  Instead, we
mostly just stared at each other.
This painting is in her honor.
Part of my 'Holy Cow' series.
