March 27, 2012: Whenever we find a
discarded antler, it's always an unexpected treat! Recently Paul came across this one, most likely shed by a mule deer passing through. Lightweight, dry and a little rough to the touch, I moved it closer to one of the rosemary bushes, reveling in its sculptural beauty. We used to bring these treasured, shed bones indoors. Now, we prefer to leave them outside so they can be naturally recycled by small critters who feed off the abundant source of calcium. |
